teckel: Get Started

Welcome!

Setting up Benedict — your practice's dedicated AI compliance documentation assistant — takes about 15 minutes. Here's how it works, step by step.

1. Download the teckel App

The teckel App is free on the Apple App Store and Google Play. It's how you'll create and manage your Benedict, top up your tc balance, and reach support whenever you need it.

2. Create your practice's Benedict

To create your Benedict, you will need an Android device or an iPhone (iPad is not currently supported). From either of those devices, tap the "Create Benedict" button at the bottom of this page. You will then be guided to install the teckel App if you have not already done so. Once the teckel App is installed on your device, tap the "Create Benedict" button again which will automatically launch the onboarding wizard within the teckel App. Once you complete the steps in the onboarding wizard within the teckel App, a URL will be emailed to you. Be sure to bookmark that URL since that is your own private Benedict. If you ever lose the email, you can have your link re-sent from the wizard page.

The wizard asks for very little — a name for your Benedict page and an email address. You don't need your practice details to hand: those are optional, and you can add or change them at any time by asking Benedict to update your "settings".

Important: you can create only one Benedict — and one is all you need. A single Benedict serves your whole practice: each session is unlocked with an access code you generate in the teckel App, from the account that created Benedict.

3. Access Benedict with an access code

Once Benedict is set up, your page is protected so only you can start a session. When you tell Benedict what you'd like to do — for example, "I'd like to work on my compliance documents" — Benedict asks for an access code.

Open the teckel App (the same account you used to create Benedict) and tap "Generate Access Code." Give that code to Benedict, and Benedict verifies you and guides you through your compliance documentation.

Each code expires after about 15 minutes — so there's no standing password to share, leak, or rotate.

4. Fund Benedict

Top up your tc (teckel credits) balance via an in-app purchase. Apple and Google handle the billing, so it's the same secure flow you already trust for everything else on your phone.

A typical compliance form costs about £2.50. A £10 top-up is enough to get started and try several forms — you can top up as you go, only when you need to.

Common questions

How long does setup take?
About 15 minutes the first time, end to end: install the App, create your Benedict, add credit, then open the private link we email you and give Benedict the access code from the App. After that, starting a session takes seconds.

Do I need any special hardware?
No. Any device with a browser and a microphone works. Most practices use the surgery's existing computer or tablet.
